Sometimes I wonder why people ask me to make guacamole dip. I mean, it is not hard people! You only need a few ingredients and a little bit of time.

On the other hand, I grew up in eastern Colorado, which used to be part of Mexico. We ate Mexican food often at home and I got so used to the food that it just became second nature for me. If you came from North Dakota and only ate Norwegian food, you might not appreciate the dip.

So, I gladly make it for them. Sometimes they even watch me, but still think they can’t do it alone.

A basic collection of cutting tools is vital in any well-equipped kitchen just like Permanent Waterless Cookware.  Slicing, paring, boning, chopping and carving are essential jobs for which it is important to have the right tools.  Some of the knives are paring knife, chef’s knife, bread knife, carving knife, two-tined fork, boning knife, serrated utility knife and kitchen shears.  They are for cutting dried fruits and trimming pastry overhangs, etc.  A good cook’s ability to work skillfully depends upon using the right knife for the job.  Use knives only for the purpose for which they were intended.  Paring knifes have a 2 to 4 inch long blade and is used to cut or pare food.

I recently visited my recently retired parents at their newly built home in Valley Grande, Alabama. I usually can’t stand going down there because of the weather. It’s just too hot and the humidity is just RIDICULOUS. I was down there in mid October and the weather was actually reasonable. I’m based in the San Francisco Bay Area and the weather in Alabama was Bay Area like. Anyway, my mother was impressing me upon the fact the both her side of the family and my father’s side are full of folks who are suffering from diabetes. I have a bit of a sweet tooth, so I’m trying to avoid the same fate by learning some Healthy Cake Recipes that are both delicous and sugar free.
